What does it mean to be a Lightbearer?

To be a Lightbearer is to live in a way that carries the light of Jesus beyond yourself.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). He also called His disciples “the light of the world” and asked them to “let your light so shine before men” (Matthew 5:14, 16).

​

We become bearers of His light as we learn to love the way He loves. His mercy, hope, goodness, and compassion become visible in the way we treat the people around us.

Most of the time, that happens in very ordinary ways. We notice someone who is lonely. We encourage someone who is discouraged. We feed someone, forgive someone, listen, mourn with someone, or make room for the person who feels left out. Sometimes we give something beautiful simply because another person came to mind.

Being a Lightbearer means

becoming the kind of person

through whom someone else

can experience a little more of

the love of Jesus.

Lightbearers is a monthly art subscription created around a simple idea: when something brings light into our lives, we can carry that light to someone else.

​

Each month features a work of art by me--Jessica Keil--announced in advance and thoughtfully paired with a scripture and coordinating keepsakes. Every Lightbearer receives two 5x5 or 5×7 prints of that month's featured artwork.

One is for you. The second is meant to keep going.

Frame it for a friend. Slip it into a card for someone who's having a difficult week. Give it to your mom, your sister, a neighbor, a teacher, or someone you minister to. Or hold onto it until someone comes to mind.

Sometimes “I saw this and thought of you” is enough.
