A Simple Prayer

A Simple Prayer was inspired by my eight-year-old daughter and the uncomplicated way children speak to God.

She often begins her prayers, “Heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Please bless everything you’ve gaven us…” Then, realizing she meant to say thank you for everything He has “gaven” us, she says that too.

Her prayers aren’t polished or eloquent. They’re sincere. And they remind me that Heavenly Father isn’t waiting for perfect words.

This painting is a reminder to pray simply, honestly, and often—and that a child’s small prayer is heard just as readily as anyone else’s.
